In the midst of the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine, tech firms have stepped up to assist Ukraine. As a result, telecom corporations have joined the chorus of support for Ukraine. More than a dozen carriers, including Deutsche Telekom, AT&T, and Vodafone, have announced free international calls to Ukraine in the midst of the conflict. Roaming fees have also been eliminated by these companies.

According to ETNO, a European telecommunications lobbying group, at least 13 of its members have come out to assist Ukrainians following Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Other businesses and institutions are expected to follow suit in the coming days.

14 telecommunications businesses have come out in favour of Ukraine

Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telefónica, Telia Co., A1 Telecom Austria Group, Telenor, Proximus, KPN, Vodafone, Vivacom, TIM Telecom Italia, Altis Portugal, and Swisscom are among the telecom carriers in Ukraine that have eliminated roaming charges in addition to free international calls.

Many of these businesses are giving away free SIM cards to refugees in nearby countries. In addition, free Wi-Fi and SMS contribution are available in the refugee camps. AT&T, a US telecommunications company, said last week that its US consumer and business customers will be able to make unlimited long-distance calls to Ukraine until March 7.
