Balakot Air Strike Hero and Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman, who shot down Pakistan’s F-sixteen fighter jet. He was honored with the Vir Chakra by Indian President Ram Nath Kovind. • Martyr Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhondiyal was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra. His wife Lt. Nikita Kaul and mother received the honour. They attacked and killed 5 terrorists by recovering 200 kg of explosives from the terrorists.
• The President posthumously honored with Kirti Chakra to Sapper Shaheed Prakash Jadhav of the Corps of Engineers. It is the second highest peacetime gallantry award. His wife and mother took the award. He was martyred while fighting terrorists in J&K.
