RRR: Ram Charan calls the Oscar nomination for Naatu Naatu, a “historic moment for Indian cinema”



The long-awaited news of SS Rajamouli’s RRR being nominated for an Oscar in 2023 has arrived. The blockbuster song Naatu Naatu from the film RRR has been nominated for an Oscar, and Ram Charan is overjoyed. The actor took to social media to react to Naatu Naatu’s song being nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars in 2023.

Ram Charan, who was highly praised for his dancing skills in the Naatu Naatu song along with Jr NTR, took to social media and expressed his pride and joy for getting shortlisted in Oscars 2023.

Among the 15 songs nominated for Oscars in the Best Original Song category, Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli’s RRR made the cut. The RRR team submitted nominations for The Academy Awards in 14 categories for unversed. RRR’s official Twitter page shared a gratitude post this morning to thank fans for their support and love throughout their journey. “Here we go #NaatuNaatu becomes the first Indian song to be shortlisted for the Academy Awards!” the team tweeted. THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us along the way.”

RRR receives awards

The period drama has received numerous accolades from around the world. RRR recently won three trophies at the Philadelphia Film Critics Circle Annual Awards, extending her winning streak. Previously, RRR received five Critics Choice Awards 2023 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Foreign 
Language Film, Best Visual Effects, and Best Song (‘Naatu Naatu’). The film was also nominated for two Golden Globe Awards, including Best Non-English Language Film and Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu.

RRR, which stars Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn among others, is a fictional retelling of the lives of revolutionary freedom fighters Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, respectively, played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR.
