Ola Electric is planning to launch a brand-new product on August 15, 2022, India’s 75th Independence Day. Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal made the announcement via his official Twitter handle. In 2021, on the same day, August 15, 2021, Ola unveiled the S1 electric scooter.
Without divulging the details of the new offering, Aggarwal tweeted, “Super excited to announce a new product this 15th August! Will also share more about our BIG future plans!! Do watch the livestream. Sharing time and link soon.”
The Internet is buzzing with rumours about the new Ola vehicle, which is set to debut on August 15, 2022. While some reports claim it will be the brand’s first all-electric car, others claim it will be a new scooter with increased range or a removable and lockable battery.
Enrolled in Union Government’s PLI scheme
Ola has also enrolled in the Union Government’s PLI scheme, which allows it to manufacture Lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles on its own. As a result, the possibility of introducing a low-cost electric scooter powered by Ola’s own battery on August 15 cannot be discounted.
The brand teased its upcoming electric car for the first time a few months ago with a video that showed the front and rear ends of the vehicle. Furthermore, the Ola electric vehicle was outfitted with sleek DRLs with red accents and an Ola emblem. It will almost certainly be a four-door sedan with a coupe-like roofline.
According to reports, Ola is looking for 1000 acres of land to build its four-wheeler manufacturing facility. The brand claims that it will be twice the size of the FutureFactory in Tamil Nadu, where the Ola S1 and
S1 Pro scooters are manufactured.
