New diabetes and hypertension plan launched by Insurance company; See Benefits

Niva Bupa Health Insurance Company Limited, an insurance company, has launched a new health policy for people with diabetes and hypertension. The new rider plan, Smart Health+ Disease Management Plan, will cover diabetes, hypertension, and their complications from the start, giving customers living with diabetes and hypertension complete peace of mind. The plan was developed in response to the large number of people in India who suffer from these diseases. The rider is only available to those who enrol in the ReAssure plan.

“It is important to note that these customers are at a higher risk of needing hospitalisation and hence need of immediate cover,” Niva Bupa, formerly known as Max Bupa Health Insurance Company Limited, said in a press release on August 2.

Give confidence to Diabetes and Hypertension people to live lives without worry

According to the company, the plan is intended to give people with Diabetes and Hypertension the confidence to live their lives without worry. The SmartHealth+ Disease Management Rider will also provide quarterly health check-ups and a 20% discount on health insurance renewal premiums for living a healthy lifestyle.

According to Niva Bupa, it conducted internal consumer research and discovered that most people with diabetes and hypertension feel restricted by the two to four-year waiting period, even after paying extra loading premiums. According to industry reports, diabetes and hypertension are on the rise in India due to a variety of factors such as rapid urbanisation, sedentary lifestyles, and unhealthy diets, among others.

Given that diabetes and hypertension affect a significant proportion of the Indian population, Niva Bupa has introduced a plan that ensures that customers with such conditions do not have to go through the mandatory waiting period or pay loading premiums, which are common in regular retail health insurance plans, and can get coverage for diabetes and hypertension from the first day.

72.96 million diabetic adults in country

Diabetes is a growing problem in India, according to World Health Organization data, with an estimated 72.96 million diabetic adults in the country. Another report released this year by the India Council for Medical Research revealed that one in every four adults in India suffers from hypertension, with only 10% of patients having their blood pressure under control.

Announcing the launch Bhabatosh Mishra, Director – Underwriting, Products and Claims, Niva Bupa Health Insurance said, “We are happy to announce the launch of Smart Health+ Disease Management Rider, which is intended to make ReAssure smarter, all-inclusive, and more accessible for customers. At Niva Bupa we feel that people suffering from diabetes and hypertension should not be living a life full of constraints and restrictions. While it is important for them to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle to manage their health condition, we want to give them the freedom to live their life without any worries. The
Smart Health+ Disease Management Rider will assure them of access to best healthcare services from Day 1 itself.”
