Various Techniques for Growing Food in Small Area

We all want to eat fresh and organic food, but we can’t rely on the fruits and vegetables on the market because they contain a lot of chemicals. We’d like to grow our own vegetables or fruits, but we don’t have enough space.

The question now is how to grow vegetables in a small space with full sun exposure. Find the answer below:

Container Gardening

If you only have a small outdoor space, such as a balcony, shared courtyard, or small yard, a container garden with vegetables and fruits may be the best option for you.

One of the best aspects of container gardening is that, with the right conditions and enough space for an appropriate-sized container, you can grow almost any vegetable and a wide range of fruits.

With the right amount of sunlight exposure and irrigation system, even small fruit trees or bushes can be grown successfully using this method.

Container gardens are also extremely space efficient because every grain of soil in your container counts for fruit and vegetable production – no growing space underfoot will be wasted as you care for and harvest your plants.

Vertical Gardening

Vertical Gardening is a type of urban gardening that is ideal for small spaces, particularly for decorating the walls and roofs in various styles. This alternative gardening technique expands the possibilities for growing plants in a vertical environment. Vertical vegetable gardening saves space, helps to avoid pests and disease, makes harvesting easier, and adds beauty to your garden.

Keyhole Gardening

Keyhole gardens are intended to save space by eliminating the need for footpaths, which are common in traditional row gardening or raised beds. The design is also meant to be draught-proof and to provide nutrients via compost throughout the growing season.

Keyhole gardens are raised-style beds in the shape of a circle, with a “keyhole” shaped path leading to the entire garden. A vertical tunnel in the centre of the circle houses many layers of compost. As the compost decomposes, it delivers nutrients and moisture to the bed.

Windowsill Gardens

Growing food plants on a windowsill indoors is a simple, low-space solution for crops like lettuce and herbs that are harvested frequently. Any gardener who has enough light and water can extend the growing season by potting up some herbs and growing them indoors. Windowsill gardening, on the other hand, is not just for those with limited space. If an area of your home receives enough sunlight, you can even grow vegetables indoors.
