WhatsApp to introduce emoji modes Avatar, Here’s how it works

WhatsApp has a plethora of emojis, stickers, GIFs, and other features to make your conversations more enjoyable. WhatsApp has also been adding new features and tools to compete with other social media apps such as Telegram and Signal. According to a WabetaInfo report, another feature is in the works and will soon be available on WhatsApp. It’s none other than the animated WhatsApp Avatars inspired by emojis!

WhatsApp profile pictures can be replaced with animated avatars during video calls

Meta recently launched 3D Avatars for Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram, allowing you to create and customise an avatar that looks like you. The most recent speculation points to the arrival of these Avatars on your favourite messaging app, WhatsApp. According to the WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow users to replace their WhatsApp profile pictures with animated avatars during video calls if the camera is turned off. Until now, it has displayed the user’s profile picture.

“In 2017, WhatsApp released its own emoji set on WhatsApp beta for Android, and it seems it’s not the only thing the company wants to create a replacement for,” WaBetaInfo said in a blog post. This feature has been said to be in development for a long time, but still, it is not in its final form, as yet.

WABetaInfo shared a screenshot that shows a new option during your WhatsApp video call that will allow you to immediately switch to your Avatar when a future update is released. Simply tap on the “Switch to avatar” option, and your profile picture will be replaced with your Avatar.

Avatars as stickers can be send right within the chats on WhatsApp

Just like Facebook and Instagram, you will be able to send your Avatars as stickers right within the chats and groups on WhatsApp. As Avatars will make its space on WhatsApp soon, you can expect an ‘Avatar Editor’ section within WhatsApp too, WabetaInfo report mentioned. This will allow you to customize your Avatars anytime on WhatsApp. This update will be available for Android as well as iPhone users. Sadly, the release date for Avatars on WhatsApp is still unknown.
