World Accreditation Day is a global initiative which is observed on June 9 of every year. International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and International Accreditation Forum (IAF) established it to promote the value of accreditation.

The theme of World Accreditation Day 2022 is Accreditation: Sustainability in Economic Growth and the Environment, which focuses on how accreditation supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15.

Meaning of Accreditation?

Accreditation is an essential ingredient for competitiveness, access to new markets, productivity improvement, innovation of new products and environmental protection and safety of people. Accreditation makes sure productivity improvement, innovation, and efficient infrastructure which ultimately results in the growth of a country.

What is International Accreditation Forum (IAF)?

The International Accreditation Forum, Inc. (IAF) is a world organisation. It is associated with the assessment of management systems, products, services, personnel, and other similar conformity assessment programs. Its primary function is to develop a single worldwide program of conformity assessment which reduces the risk for businesses and their customers.

Why do we celebrate World Accreditation Day?

Accreditation works with other quality infrastructure agencies such as metrology, standardization, conformity assessment and market monitoring to provide the essential technical foundation for the functioning of advanced and developing societies. It is a pioneer in industrial development, trade competitiveness in the global market, efficient use of nature and human resources, food safety, health and environmental protection.
