Since 1999, the National Technology day is celebrated on 11th May. On this day in the year 1998, India successfully Launched its first nuclear test in the leadership of APJ Abdul Kalam, late aerospace engineer and Prime Minister. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee named the day as the National Technology Day.
Theme for 2022 National Technology Day
The theme for 2022 is “Integrated Approach in Science & Technology for Sustainable Future” The key objective of this theme is to promote the development of technology in various fields. Also for this, the Department has been generating technology development projects which include materials, devices, and processes.

The national technology day is celebrated all over the country to inspire and encourage young generations to follow and pursue careers in the field of science and technology are the backbones of any country in this 21st century technologically modern and advanced world.
Significance of the day
National Technology Day is celebrated to pay respect and tribute to the great scientists, engineers and soldiers who made the ‘Shakti’ mission success which was led by APJ Abdul Kalam. On this very day,
Hansa-1 was in the air, India’s first indigenous aircraft built at the National Aerospace Labourities. Trisul, a short range missile, was test fired on this day, made in India.
Therefore, we can say that this day glorifies the importance of science in day-to-day life and motivates to adopt science as career.
