Delhi will soon have 'European-style' roads: Sisodia

As Deputy chief minister evaluated the streetscaping projects on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said European-style roadways will soon be a reality in Delhi.

According to him, the projects will give the city's streets a new personality.

According to a release, Sisodia met with consultants and Public Works Department (PWD) officials to discuss the streetscaping of 16 roads that are being reconstructed in a trial phase across Delhi.

He also looked through plans for road beautification and offered his opinions.

I personally evaluated the streetscape work with the consultants and offered suggestions for improvement. Their plans to transform Delhi's roadways and make them world-class, according to Sisodia, are "fantastic."European-style roadways in Delhi will be a reality shortly after this project is completed.

According to him, the Kejriwal government's efforts will decongest city roads, improve mobility, and beautify them.The Delhi government, he said, is committed to providing citizens with a safe and pleasant commuting experience, emphasising utility, greenery, safety, and aesthetics The administration is also focusing on improving pedestrian amenities.

Later that evening,Sisodia tweeted about the development.

"It is @ArvindKejriwal's dream to see Delhi's roads become beautiful like European & US roads. We are working round the clock with the best brains in the field to fulfil this dream...Discussed some great ideas & addressed challenges for the Mathura Road pilot project - along which, our city roads will be decongested & beautified as per global standards," he wrote.

The 16 road stretches that are being redeveloped on pilot basis are: Ring Road from Mayapuri to Moti Bagh Junction, Ring Road from AIIMS to Ashram, Vikas Marg from Laxmi Nagar Chungi to Karkari Mod, Narwana Road from Mother Dairy to Punch Mahal Niwas, Britannia Chowk to Outer Ring Road, West Enclave in Pitampura, Wazirpur Depot Crossing (NSP) to Rithala Metro Station, Shivdaspuri Marg and Patel Road, Nelson Mandela Marg, Karkardooma Court Road, Wazirabad Road, Majlis Park Road, Tikri Border Road, Lodhi Road, Aurobindo Marg, Shantivan Road, and K N Katju Road.

The streetscaping of these 16 roads is part of the city government's project under which 540 kms of road will be beautified.
