The Himveers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) participated in a Yoga session at an altitude of 17,000 feet amid snow conditions in the Sikkim Himalayas on Wednesday, in preparation for the upcoming International Day of Yoga 2022.
Overview
Around 20 Indo-Tibetan Border Police officers can be seen stretching their feet and executing at least three distinct yoga asanas (postures) on their carefully set yoga mats across a uniform sheet of snow barely bigger than a white blanket.
Earlier this year, ITBP troops in Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand organised a similar yoga session under the auspices of the ‘Yoga Amrit Mahotsav.’
“ITBP Himveers in Yoga sessions at 15,000 feet in snow circumstances in Uttarakhand Himalayas under the umbrella of the upcoming International Day of Yoga 2022,” the ITBP captioned the video.
As a global event of this magnitude, the International Day of Yoga attracts participants from all over the world.
International Yoga Day has been observed on June 21st since 2015. On this day each year, people meet in yoga studios or other communal locations to practise yoga together.The way the occasion was commemorated across the country, and by extension, the world – from Ladakh to Karnataka, Rajasthan to West Bengal, and Delhi to Times Square in New York – demonstrates how yoga has pervaded people’s lives all over the world.
