The Telangana government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with technology giant Google on Thursday to extend the benefits of a digital economy to the state’s youth and female entrepreneurs. The MoU was signed in the presence of state IT minister K T Rama Rao by Google India country head Sanjay Gupta and Telangana IT secretary Jayesh Ranjan.

‘Womenwill’ programme

According to the MoU, Google will work with the Telangana government to provide Google Career Certificate Scholarships to youth to prepare them for the demand for digital talent.
The scholarships will be administered by the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge, with training focusing on high-demand fields such as IT Support, IT Automation, UX Design,
Data Analytics, and Project Management.

Similarly, Google will launch a “WomenWill” programme in Telangana to provide women with training and digital, business, and financial skills for nano, micro, and small women-led businesses and entrepreneurs

Google will assist Telangana’s education modernization

Another aspect of the agreement is that Google will assist Telangana’s education modernization efforts by conducting needs assessments, impact demonstrations, and student and educator training on the use of e-Learning technologies for improved learning outcomes

Google will also support the Telangana government’s efforts to improve public transportation and the use of digital technologies in agriculture as part of the collaborative effort.

Gupta stated on the occasion that the MoU would support and accelerate the Telangana government’s efforts to help youth learn the right skills for employment, assist women entrepreneurs with digital skills, and modernize schools for children.

Google also unveiled the design of its ground-up development at the 7.3-acre Gachibowli site it purchased in 2019. “The three million square foot building will provide a healthy, collaborative workplace for a highly-skilled tech workforce,” Gupta said.
