The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has launched the ‘Airport as Venue for Skilled Artisans of the Region’ (AVSAR) scheme with the goal of developing the talent of craftsmen, women, and artisans and giving them with adequate chances.
Overview:
The destitute will be given the opportunity to earn so that they can organize their households for self-dependence and self-reliance under this system.
Self Help Groups (SHGs) will be given space at airports under this project to showcase or sell self-made products from their region.
An area of 100-200 square feet has been set aside for the SHGs at each AAI-operated airport.
This area will be provided to the SHGs on a turn-by-turn basis for a period of 15 days.
Outlets that have been commissioned
A few outlets have been set up at AAI-operated airports in Agartala, Chennai, Kushinagar, Dehradun, Amritsar, and Udaipur, where local women-run SHGs are marketing and showcasing their homemade products.

What products are being showcased?
Packaged papad, puffed rice, bamboo-based ladies bag/lamp sets/bottle, pickles, traditional craft, local artifacts, needlework, natural dyes, and indigenous weaves with contemporary design are among the products shown and offered to tourists.
