Crop insurance scheme guidelines modified, Check out modification

The Agriculture Department has changed the State crop insurance scheme to allow nominees to collect crop loss compensation if the farmer dies or becomes paralysed and bedridden.

Farmers must indicate their nominees when applying for membership in the scheme, according to a September 24 order issued by the department listing the changes to the scheme guidelines. The nominee can apply for and collect the amount in the aforementioned scenarios.

This provision will not apply in any other circumstance.

Crop loss to paddy due to pest attack has been included in the scheme, as required by a government order issued on October 27, 2017. According to an official, this is already in effect.
