Odisha Launched India’s First AI-Chatbot for Farmers, a game changer initiative

Ama KrushAI is a recently launched agro chatbot in Odisha that aims to provide farmers with the best agronomic practices, government schemes, and loan products from over 40 commercial and cooperative banks. The Odisha government launched this initiative as part of its efforts to improve extension delivery for the state’s lakhs of farmers.

About the Ama KrushAI chatbot

The Ama KrushAI is an artificial intelligence-driven ChatBot built with the recently launched ChatGPT system and Bhashini, an IIT Madras-developed language interpretation platform. It has been trained to effectively resolve farmers’ queries on a wide range of topics, and it provides farmers with personalised responses based on their recorded data in the Krushak Odisha state farmers’ database.

The Krushak Odisha state farmers’ database contains detailed information about the farmers, including information about their land, crops, and livestock. The ChatBot uses this data to provide farmers with contextualised and personalised extension services. This means that the ChatBot’s advice is tailored to the specific needs of each farmer based on their recorded data.

The Ama KrushAI was launched in Bhubaneswar at the annual Krushi Odisha event by Odisha Governor Ganesh Lal. The event drew over 20,000 farmers and agri-entrepreneurs from across the state, and the theme for the year was emerging agricultural technologies. This initiative is a game changer in terms of providing farmers with cutting-edge agricultural technologies and innovations.

How Ama KrushAI will help farmers?

The Ama KrushAI is expected to benefit farmers in a variety of ways. For starters, it will inform them about the best agronomic practises, government programmes, and loan products available from commercial and cooperative banks. This data will assist farmers in making better decisions about their crops, livestock, and finances. Second, the

ChatBot will be able to respond to any questions farmers may have, providing them with immediate solutions to their problems.

The use of artificial intelligence to provide personalised and contextualised extension services is a novel approach that has the potential to transform the state’s agricultural sector. The initiative exemplifies how new technologies can be used to benefit society.
