Vantara is a pioneering initiative by Reliance Foundation of Reliance Industries. Vantara is developed by Anant Ambani with an aim to focus on animal welfare, conservation and rehabilitation. This large scale sanctuary is a part of the Reliance Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat. It has 3,000-acre space dedicated to animal care and is operated by a team of global experts.
The place is making news since inauguration and recently after PM Modi and Sadhguru visits.
Holistic care to wildlife
The mission of Vantara is to provide holistic care to wildlife, ensuring that animals receive the necessary attention for recovery while also facilitating their eventual release back into their natural habitats.
Vantara stands as a groundbreaking initiative in the field of wildlife conservation and rehabilitation. This sanctuary situated in Gujrat offers not only medical care but also a safe haven for animals in distress, playing a vital role in the protection and preservation of endangered species.
Preservation of endangered species
The initiative asserts that it has “rescued more than 200 elephants, along with thousands of other animals, including reptiles and birds, from dangerous circumstances, such as rhinos, leopards, and crocodiles”.
The Elephant Rescue Centre
Vantara’s elephant rescue centre goes above and beyond in providing specialized care for elephants, especially in addressing the critical issue of poaching and tusk hunting. The inclusion of advanced medical technology like portable X-rays, laser machines, and a hyperbaric oxygen chamber shows the dedication to offering cutting-edge treatment for these magnificent creatures.
The hydrotherapy pools, elephant jacuzzi, and even multani-mitti massages reflect a holistic approach to elephant care, focusing not only on their physical health but also on their comfort and well-being. The fact that there’s a dedicated team of over 500 staff members—including veterinarians, nutritionists, and pathologists—further demonstrates how committed Vantara is to the long-term welfare of these elephants.
Medical needs of every animal
It has a team of 2,100 dedicated staff members. The sanctuary aims to provide world-class treatment for animals from a variety of species. The inclusion of advanced medical technologies like MRI, CT scans, and even lithotripsy and dialysis reflects a high level of commitment to addressing the health needs of every animal that comes through the center.
Positive Takeaway
What stands out even more is Anant Ambani’s broader vision for Vantara, seeing it not just as a sanctuary, but as a key player in global biodiversity conservation. By integrating cutting-edge technology with a deep commitment to animal welfare, Vantara could set a precedent for wildlife conservation efforts worldwide.
