The NEET PG 2024 exam is in the spotlight, following the controversy surrounding the NEET UG paper leak. Both issues have reached the Supreme Court, with Chief Justice DY Chandrachud’s bench making crucial decisions. The NEET PG 2024 exam has been confirmed to proceed without postponement, but there are several significant changes this year. Key Changes in NEET PG 2024,
Exam Centres
This year, NEET PG will be conducted at 500 exam centres, a reduction from the 1,200 centres used last year. Approximately 2.28 lakh students will take the exam across these centres. The reduction in centres aims to streamline the process, avoiding the use of many private vendors.
Exam Timings
For the first time, NEET PG will be held in two shifts. Previously, the exam was conducted in a single shift. This year, half of the candidates will take the test in the first shift and the other half in the second shift. Students can check their designated shift on their admit cards. The shift-based scheduling has faced some criticism from candidates, who are concerned about potential complications.
Question Paper Generation
Originally scheduled for June 23, 2024, the NEET PG exam was delayed due to the NEET UG paper leak case. The NEET PG question paper is now generated digitally on the morning of the exam day to prevent leaks. This measure aims to enhance security and prevent unauthorized access.
Normalization Process
With the exam being conducted in two shifts, a normalization process will be used. This process adjusts scores based on the difficulty level of the exam in each shift. If one shift’s exam is found to be more difficult, scores will be normalized to ensure fairness. For instance, if the average score in the first shift is significantly higher than in the second shift, normalization will adjust the scores to account for these differences, thereby balancing the results.
These updates are designed to improve the fairness and security of the NEET PG examination process.
