- ट्रेन चलाने के लिए भारतीय रेलवे (Indian Railway) लोको पायलट की नियुक्ति करती है।
- इसके लिए कैंडिडेट्स को लिखित परीक्षा और इंटरव्यू में पास होना होता है।
- इस दौरान मेडिकल टेस्ट में भी पास होना जरूरी है।
- लोको पायलट के लिए भर्ती हुए युवाओं को ट्रेनिंग स्कूल भेजा जाता है।
- ट्रेनिंग स्कूल में पहले रेल का इंजन चलाना होता है।
- इसके बाद नियुक्ति के तौर पर पहले माल गाड़ी चलानी होती है।
ट्रेन चलाने की ट्रेनिंग लेने के बाद सहायक पायलट के पद पर नियुक्ति मिलती है। मालगाड़ी चलाने के बाद सहायक लोको पायलट को पैसेंजर ट्रेन में लोको पायलट की देखरेख में ट्रेन चलाने का प्रशिक्षण मिलता है। कुछ समय बाद ट्रेन चलाने का अनुभव लेने के बाद स्वतंत्र रूप से ट्रेन चलाने की अनुमति मिल जाती है।
