India’s First Safari Train : Vistadome Train Experience Takes Off

India’s First Safari : In a landmark initiative set to revolutionize eco-tourism in India, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched the country’s first Vistadome jungle safari train. The trailblazing service connects the picturesque Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary in Bahraich district with the famed Dudhwa Tiger Reserve in Pilibhit, marking a significant step in making wildlife tourism both immersive and accessible.

The Unique Experience

The Vistadome train service, currently operational on weekends, promises an unforgettable jungle safari experience through its specially designed coaches. These feature large glass windows and transparent roofs, offering panoramic views of the lush forest landscapes and rich biodiversity of the Terai region. The route, covering 107 kilometers within the forest, provides passengers with close encounters with nature and wildlife in a safe and sustainable manner.

Blend of Tourism and Conservation

This initiative is not just about transport—it’s a strategic move to highlight and promote the state’s natural wealth under the brand ‘One Destination, Three Forests’. This integrated tourism model brings together Dudhwa National Park, Katarniaghat, and Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary into one coherent circuit, enabling visitors to experience the diversity of flora and fauna across three major forest zones.

Details of the Journey

The Bichia to Mailani Tourist Passenger Train (Train No. 52259) departs from Bichia station in Bahraich at 11:45 AM and arrives at Mailani in Lakhimpur Kheri at 4:10 PM, making stops at nine stations, including Dudhwa and Palia Kalan. The return journey (Train No. 52260) starts at 6:05 AM from Mailani and reaches Bichia by 10:30 AM. This route cuts through dense forest corridors teeming with biodiversity, offering a real-time jungle experience that’s both scenic and serene.

Exceptional Value with Affordability

One of the most appealing aspects of the Vistadome jungle safari train is its affordability, making it accessible to a wide range of tourists, families, and nature enthusiasts. Priced at just ₹275 per person for the 107-kilometer journey, the experience offers exceptional value for a nearly four-and-a-half-hour adventure through some of Uttar Pradesh’s most pristine forest landscapes. This cost-effective ticket not only opens the door to a unique wildlife encounter but also reflects the government’s commitment to promoting inclusive eco-tourism.

A Glimpse Into the Future

Plans are underway to expand the Vistadome safari train service from weekends to daily operations, further increasing its reach and utility. With this, Uttar Pradesh becomes the first Indian state to offer a jungle safari through a Vistadome coach, setting a precedent for other states to emulate.
