Technical Development in Underground Mining

Introduction

Metals are found deep inside the Earth’s crust. Underground mining is the process of extracting these metals from the deep levels of the earth with the help of technology and machinery to be economical. It is used to obtain almost all hard metals as they cannot be produced through agricultural or artificial processes in the industries on earth. Ores obtained by mining include gold, silver, diamond, coal, iron, limestone, mica, chalk, potash, rock salt, etc. Not just ores, it also refers to the mining of non-renewable resources like petroleum and natural gas.

When digital technology is implemented with management and mindset changes helpful and innovation Improvements are noticeable in the mining sectors.

Modern-day technology making mining a sustainable practice for future generations: –

In India, the most challenging issue that the mining sector deals with is the lack of assessment of the natural resources available. According to surveys, a lot of areas with sufficient metals supply remain undiscovered. Not only does this cause overexploitation of a particular place but also affects the inner layers of the earth by frequent drilling in the same place. Rapid development techniques maximize activity at the tunnel face and advance completion rates without compromising safety.

Advanced analytics and censored mechanics lower the maintenance cost hence boosting the economic value and productivity along with it.

Technologies are being developed so that the use of water can be reduced while keeping the extraction of the metals intact. High-rate clarifiers and high-flow de-grit plants being installed helps to conserve water along with the submersible slurry pumps.

Advanced airborne gravity gradiometer Technology has been introduced for mineral exploration which helps in saving time, effort, and money that will as they are extremely costly.

3D Imaging Technologies have improved the efficacy of studying seismic surveys along with 3D laser scanning.

Automated drilling can ensure workers’ safety and improve efficiency during undermining drilling operations. It allows drilling operations to be done from remote places and helps to avoid entering hazardous areas.

The government has been making efforts to make sure that mining does not hemorrhage the growth of forests and trees. VAMCO has been conceptualized to reduce carbon and methane emissions which can be used in coal mines all around the world and is inexpensive to manufacture, helping mining to be a sustainable practice as
well.

With Artificial Intelligence making a strong foothold in the technology sector and boosting the growth of robotics and other smart machinery, workers are being put away
from any harm from going deep inside the mining fields.

Conclusion

Rapid development in ground control has been in recent years. It has been proven that active Ground Control Management Planning (GCMP) has an essential role in all rapid development projects. The development process follows techniques like the installation of ground support and drilling short rounds. With conventional techniques like setting arches and stabilization grouting, healthier underground mining can be achieved which will in no way harm the ecology but will benefit the economic growth by ample amounts of mined materials. An effective technological plan also makes a better point for the employees to understand that the introduction of technology will ease their work and not lead to their unemployment.
