Kia has confirmed that the all-electric EV6 will be available in India. While the exact launch date has yet to be announced, the company has stated that bookings will begin on May 26, 2022, with the launch following shortly thereafter.
Overview
The Kia EV6 has an avant-garde design that is unlike anything else on Indian roads. Although it appears to be a large hatchback in photos, the Kia EV6 is actually quite large, comparable to mid-size SUVs such as the Kia Sportage. It’s 4,695mm long, 1,890mm wide, and 1,550mm tall, with a 2,900mm wheelbase.
The Kia EV6 is already available in multiple markets around the world, with either a 58kWh or a 77.4kWh battery pack in both front wheel drive and all wheel drive configurations. The WLTP certified range of the base RWD Kia EV6 with the 58kWh battery is around 378km. The RWD EV6 has a 77.4kWh battery and can travel up to 528 kilometres on a single charge (WLTP combined cycle). With 226bhp and 350Nm, it can sprint to 100kmph in 7.3 seconds and top out at 183kmph. The AWD EV6 has 321bhp and 605Nm of torque thanks to its dual motor setup and 77.4kWh battery. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.
A 7kW home charger can charge the EV6 from 10% to 100% in 7 hours and 20 minutes.
The EV6 will take 32 hours and 45 minutes to charge from 0% to 100% using a standard domestic three-pin plug. A 50kW CD fast charger charges the EV6 from 10% to 80% in 1 hour and 13 minutes; 350kW ultra-fast chargers charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes. These figures apply to the 77.4kWh version.
Obviously, the one with the smaller 58k battery will have shorter charging times.
