Google unveils Bard, know how does it work and where to access

Google unveiled Bard, an experimental AI service chatbot, as the company tries to catch up to Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s viral ChatGPT. It can respond to a variety of questions in a conversational manner, similar to ChatGPT.

How does Bard work?

According to Google, Bard generates original responses using online resources. The brain of Google’s chatbot is the language model LaMDA, which is built on the Transformer neural network architecture.

ChatGPT, on the other hand, uses the Transformer-based GPT-3 language as the foundation of its AI-powered chatbot. Transformer was developed by Google Research and made available for use in 2017.

As it is still in the testing phase, Bard is only available to a limited number of users. Google expects to make the chatbot available to all users in the coming weeks.

How to access Google Bard?

Google Bard is currently not available for public testing, but selected users have access. Google is releasing a “lightweight model version of LaMDA” that requires much less computing power. It will be able to receive more feedback as a result of this.

“We’ll combine external feedback with our own internal testing to ensure Bard’s responses meet a high bar for quality, safety, and groundedness in real-world information,” according to the post.

Feedback for Google Bard, which is powered by LaMDA, is also important to the company. In 2021, the software behemoth unveiled LaMDA. A former employee, however, claimed that its language model provided racist and sexist responses. LaMDA, according to the employee, is also “sentient.”

ChatGPT, on the other hand, provides incorrect answers. However, its developer, OpenAI, claims that the chatbot will improve as new updates are released on a regular basis. According to a recent report, Google’s LaMDA is also improving at responding, and on some occasions outperforms ChatGPT.

Difference between ChatGPT and Bard

The primary distinction between Google’s Bard and ChatGPT is that Bard can surf the web in real time to provide human-like text in response to questions. ChatGPT, on the other hand, can only provide information from its knowledge repository. ChatGPT’s knowledge is only valid until 2021.
