To expand the availability of audiobooks, e-commerce giant Flipkart will collaborate with personalized audio streaming provider Pocket FM.
Through the deal, Flipkart will be able to access Pocket FM’s 400 million+ user base and join the audiobooks market.
“Audiobooks have gained great prominence during the pandemic. This [partnership] will help authors publish their work on our platform with the aid of audiobooks. Flipkart will assist the author in receiving the appropriate exposure,” said Kanchan Mishra, business head, FMCG, home and general merchandise, Flipkart.
India presently has 25 million audiobook listeners, which places it third in the globe, according to research by Pocket FM. In the coming years, the market for audiobooks is anticipated to grow significantly due to the popularity of audio storytelling in Indian languages.
Since Pocket FM’s audiobook platform launched in March of this year, it has consistently sold over 120,000 audiobooks each month.
“This partnership will only strengthen our efforts and help our publishers and authors community reach a wider audience,” said Ashu Behl, senior vice-president, content, Pocket FM.
The partnership will bring bestsellers such as Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, The Art of Public Speaking by Dale Carnegie, Do Epic Shit by Ankur Warikoo, The Rudest Book Ever by Shwetabh Gangwar and many more to Flipkart’s platform.
