For their performances at the state, national, and international levels, the Haryana government has decided to award the same scholarship to general and SC category players.
Apart from other scholarships, the government will provide annual scholarships of Rs 84,000, Rs 72,000, and Rs 60,000 to gold, silver, and bronze medalists from the state at the international level.
A great initiative to boost the players
“In order to encourage players in all categories, we have equalized scholarships in the general and SC categories, with the exception of Rs 18,000 for participation for SC players and Rs 1,000 for female medalists from the state.”
According to Pankaj Nain, Director Sports, Haryana, “the scholarships will be provided for the previous year and would be offered in disciplines and events as per the state’s cash award policy.”
Scholarship to Gold Silver and Bronze medalists, under the annual scheme
At the national level, gold, silver, and bronze medalists would each receive a scholarship of Rs 60,000, Rs 48,000, and Rs 36,000, respectively, under the annual scheme.
Gold, silver, and bronze medalists at the state level would receive annual scholarships of Rs 42,000, Rs 36,000, and Rs 30,000, respectively, in addition to Rs 18,000 for SC athletes participating in state meets
Medalists/participants in the SC category with a family income of less than Rs 2.50 lakh and players with a family income of less than Rs 1.80 lakh are eligible for the scholarship.
The state sports department has previously advised the opening of 455 preliminary sports nurseries across the state.
