India’s four golfers will compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics from August 1 to August 10. The tournament will take place at Le Golf National in Guyancourt, Paris, with a total of 120 golfers—60 men and 60 women—participating.
Aditi Ashok
Aditi Ashok, the Asian Games silver medalist, narrowly missed out on a medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, finishing fourth in the women’s golf event. A five-time winner on the Ladies European Tour (LET), Aditi is set to make her third consecutive Olympic appearance. She debuted at Rio 2016 and finished T7.
Diksha Dagar
Former Deaflympic champion Diksha Dagar will make her second Olympic appearance at Paris 2024. At 23, Diksha became the first golfer to compete in both the Olympics and the Deaflympics, having participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Shubhankar Sharma
Making their Olympic debut in Paris, Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar represent India in the men’s golf tournament. Shubhankar, the former Asia No. 1, became the youngest Indian to win a European Tour title at 21, securing the Joburg Open in 2017. He also won the Maybank Championship in 2018. Shubhankar recently placed 32nd at the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games.
Gaganjeet Bhullar
Gaganjeet Bhullar, an 11-time Asian Tour champion, recently clinched the Indonesian Masters in 2023. The 36-year-old also secured a silver medal at the 2006 Asian Games.
Golf’s Olympic History
Golf was included in the Olympic program in 1900 and 1904 but was subsequently removed. It made a comeback at Rio 2016 and has been a part of the Summer Olympics since then. The United States is the most successful country in Olympic golf history, with a total of 13 medals: five golds, three silvers, and five bronzes.
