Khelo India Games 2022: Chhattisgarh’s Dnyaneshwari won ‘gold’ and Raja won silver



The second day of ongoing Khelo India Games 2022 held in Panchkula, Haryana brought big achievements for Chhattisgarh. The weightlifters of the state have opened their accounts with great achievements. Dnyaneshwari Yadav broke her own record of weight lifting. She won the gold medal by lifting 164 kg. In the men’s section, Raja Bharti secured a silver medal by lifting a total of 211 kg.

Brought first gold for Chhattisgarh in Khelo India Games

Dnyaneshwari Yadav lifted a total of 164 kg in the 49 kg weight category, 76 kg snatch and 88 kg clean and jerk. With this, he brought Chhattisgarh the first gold medal in this competition. Dnyaneshwari had earlier won three silver medals by lifting 156 kg in the snatch, clean and jerk event of 49 kg category at the Junior World Weight Lifting Championships held in Heraklion city of Greece from May 1 to 10.

First women weight lifter of Chhattisgarh won silver in foreign ground

Dnyaneshwari is the first woman weight lifter of Chhattisgarh , who has won silver medal in Junior World Championship on foreign soil. The weight lifted in Greece was Dnyaneshwari’s record so far which she broke in Panchkula.

Weight lifter Raja Bharti of Chhattisgarh won the bronze medal in the men’s 55 kg weight category event by lifting 96 kg snatch and 115 kg clean and jerk with a total weight of 211 kg at the Junior World Weight Lifting Championships held in Heraklion city of Greece from May 1 to 10.

6 weight lifters from Chhattisgarh have participated in Khelo India

6 weightlifters representing Chhattisgarh in Khelo India Youth Games . In these, three women’s section and three men’s section are participating in various weight category competitions. The men’s team comprises Vikas Lahere, Raja Bharti, Navjot Singh and the women’s players Dnyaneshwari Yadav, Ekta Banjare and Rimjhim Mengi.

Expectations from Malkhamb and Volleyball team too

In the Khelo India Youth Games, 122 players from Chhattisgarh are participating in 13 sports such as Handball, Wrestling, Volleyball, Boxing, Kho-Kho, Yogasan, Malkhamb, Weightlifting, Judo and Swimming. Considering the past national performance, medals were expected from weightlifting, volleyball and malkhamb.

Chhattisgarh CM offered job of Assistant Sub-Inspector in Chhattisgarh Police

After winning the silver medal in Junior World Weightlifting Championship, Dnyaneshwari Yadav met Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at his residence office in Raipur. The Chief Minister had announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to Dnyaneshwari for further preparation for the weightlifting competition. He has also announced appointment of Dnyaneshwari to the post of Assistant Sub-Inspector in Chhattisgarh Police. The Chief Minister has also congratulated Dnyaneshwari and Raja Bharti for their victory on June 5.
