Team India completed a resounding comeback to seal a memorable series victory against Australia with a tense six-wicket victory in the series decider on Sunday (September 25) at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad, despite losing the first game of the series in Mohali.
Cameron Green’s 19-ball 50 gave Australia an incredible start after India won the toss and chose to bowl first. Axar Patel’s three-wicket haul kept India in the game as he continued his sensational form with the ball, which has seen him take seven wickets in a high-scoring series. In response, India lost both openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul early in the chase, but Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli put the hosts back on track with a 100-run partnership, with both players scoring half-centuries. The game went into a tense final over, but Hardik Pandya’s calmness ensured India won with one ball to spare.
