On March 24, 2022, India’s edtech platform BYJU’S was designated the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. BYJU’S has been the FIFA World Cup’s first Indian sponsor.

“It is a matter of pride for us to represent India on such a prominent global stage and support the merger of education and sport,” Byju Raveendran, founder and CEO of BYJU’S, said in a statement.
“We are happy to be connected with a brand like BYJU’S, which is also engaging communities and empowering young people wherever they may be in the world,” FIFA’s Chief Commercial Officer Kay Madati stated.
BYJU’S would be the first EdTech Company to sponsor this important event on a global scale.
The Importance of BYJU’S FIFA Deal
This would make BYJU’S the first EdTech Company to support the FIFA World Cup. It’s also the first Indian company to sponsor the FIFA World Cup in 2022. The news follows FIFA’s statement on March 22nd that it had reached an arrangement with Singapore-based Crypto.com to sponsor the World Cup.
2022 FIFA World Cup
Qatar will host the FIFA World Cup 2022 from November 21 to December 18, 2022. This will be the first FIFA World Cup hosted by an Arab country and the second in Asia following the FIFA World Cup in 2002. The FIFA World Cup 2022 will be the final edition to feature 32 teams, while the next edition will have 48.
BYJU’S Indian Team Sponsor
BYJU’S is a worldwide educational technology firm situated in Bangalore, India. Byju Raveendran and Divya Gokulnath launched it in 2011.
The Indian national cricket team’s jersey is also sponsored by BYJU’S. In September 2019, BYJU’S took over as the Indian team’s jersey sponsor, replacing Oppo. The Byjus’s contract with the BCCI includes payment of Rs 4.61 crore for a bilateral game and Rs 1.56 for an international game.
In March 2022, the BCCI opted to prolong Byju’s shirt sponsorship of the Indian squad. After India vs. Sri Lanka series, which included three T20Is and two Tests, the sponsorship contract was slated to end.
