Police Commissioner’s Unique Initiative: Free Coaching Center for Civil Services Aspirants

Typically, police officers are seen maintaining law and order, often with batons in hand, tackling criminals and keeping the peace. However, in West Bengal, a unique police commissioner is making headlines by taking on the mission of fulfilling the dreams of underprivileged children. This initiative aims to discover and nurture future IPS and IAS officers from slums and impoverished areas.

Inauguration of Free Coaching Center

Amit P Javalgi, the Police Commissioner of Chandannagar Police Commissionerate, inaugurated a free coaching center named ‘Stair to Success’ in Champdani. This fully air-conditioned center provides a comfortable environment for students preparing for competitive exams, allowing them to focus on their studies without the distraction of heat. The coaching center will serve children from the slums and shanties of Champdani, helping them realize their dreams of becoming civil servants. The initiative is supported by Champdani Municipality Chairman Suresh Mishra.

Support for the Unique Initiative

The importance of this unique initiative is evident from the attendance at the coaching center’s inauguration. The event was graced by the entire police force, including DCP Headquarters and DCP Chandannagar Isani Pal and Alaknanda Bhawal, Champdani MLA Arindam Guha, Municipality Chairman Suresh Mishra, and other senior police and administrative officials.

Books Purchased with Salary

Commissioner Javalgi has previously operated several free study centers, providing books to underprivileged students using his own salary. Moreover, he, along with his police officers and qualified trainers, helps students practice for competitive exams.

Commissioner’s Vision

On this occasion, Commissioner Amit P Javalgi referenced Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who emphasized the importance of civil services in defining India as a federation. He expressed his desire for children from impoverished areas to receive quality education and eventually become IPS officers, training at the Sardar Patel Police Academy, which was established by Patel himself.

Conclusion

Commissioner Amit P Javalgi’s initiative to establish a free coaching center for civil services is a testament to his dedication to serving the community beyond traditional policing duties. By investing his salary into purchasing books and providing quality education, he is paving the way for underprivileged children to achieve their dreams and contribute to society. This unique initiative is not only garnering support from the community and officials but also inspiring hope and ambition among the youth of Champdani.
