To improve the travel experiences of the passengers, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has developed a system that allows travelers with connected domestic flights to transfer with ease. It is an innovative solution for passengers with connecting domestic flights.
With domestic travel on the rise and summer travel bookings seeing a surge, travelers would benefit from this facility. This would allow the passengers to travel faster, smoother, and more easily than ever before.
Passenger transfer facility at CSMIA
Passengers and crew members who have a domestic layover at CSMIA may now easily transfer with less congestion and transit time, as the airport becomes the first in the country to build and operate a dedicated domestic to domestic passenger and crew member transfer facility within Terminal-2.
Reduced the Minimum Connection Time (MCT)
The CISF conducts pre-embarkation security checks in this specialized room, which contains the necessary security screening technology. This transit area will significantly reduce the Minimum Connection Time (MCT) for transfer passengers and staff members, allowing passengers with shorter layovers to board.
Re-entering the terminal becomes easy
Furthermore, it will provide airline operators more flexibility in organizing their flight schedules and crew rostering since they would be able to accommodate passengers with shorter time gaps between connecting flights. This improvement will assist the airport to decongest even further, as passengers who would otherwise exit and re-enter the terminal and wait for their subsequent flight will now be able to board without having to go through the procedure of re-entering the terminal.
