What exactly is Kambala?
It is an annual buffalo race held in Karnataka. The local Tuluva landlords in the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts are sponsoring this event. These activities are organised by Kambala samithis. In the coastal region of Karnataka, more than 45 races are held each year.
The race’s format is as follows:
The race track, which is a slushy paddy field, is where this event takes place. The buffaloes are driven by farmers who whip them. Silver and gold coins are awarded to the winners. The winner of some of the organising committees receives an eight-gram gold coin, while others receive cash rewards.
