In a bid to enhance the security of the northern borders of India, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ in Kibithu, a border village in Arunachal Pradesh. The program aims to improve the quality of life for people living in identified border villages, prevent migration from these villages, and strengthen the security of the border with China.

Comprehensive Development of Border Villages

Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has approved a central component of Rs 4800 crore for the ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ for the financial years 2022-23 to 2025-26, including Rs 2500 crore specifically for road connectivity. The program will target 2967 villages in 46 blocks of 19 districts along the northern border in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and the Union Territory of Ladakh.

The main objective of the ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ is to provide comprehensive development to the identified border villages. This will involve the implementation of various initiatives to uplift the standard of living for the residents of these villages. The plan will also encourage people to stay in their native places, prevent migration, and help fortify India’s borders.

Projects Under the Program

The ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ will include projects such as the construction of roads, bridges, schools, health centers, and community centers. Additionally, the program will provide clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, and electricity to the identified border villages. The program will also promote the use of renewable energy by implementing micro-hydel projects and solar energy projects.

Other Developments

Apart from inaugurating the ‘Vibrant Village Programme,’ Amit Shah will also inaugurate nine micro hydel projects built under the “Golden Jubilee Border Illumination Programme” by the Arunachal Pradesh government. Furthermore, he will unveil Indo-Tibetan Border Police projects to enhance infrastructure and interact with ITBP personnel.

Pay Tribute to Heroes

During his visit, the Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister will pay homage to the soldiers who lost their lives during the 1962 Indo-China war at the Walong War Memorial. The war memorial is dedicated to the brave soldiers who fought to defend India’s borders.

Conclusion

The ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ is a comprehensive plan that aims to uplift the standard of living in border villages and prevent migration while enhancing border security.

The program will provide essential infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, schools, health centers, and community centers, and promote the use of renewable energy. Amit Shah’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh will also pay homage to the brave soldiers who fought to defend India’s borders.
