Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for many developmental projects in Imphal, Manipur, on January 4.
PM Modi inaugurated 13 projects worth Rs 1,850 crore in Manipur and laid the foundation stone for nine projects worth Rs 2,950 crore, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Prime Minister lay the foundation stone for the construction of five National Highway Projects worth over Rs 1700 crore, as part of a countrywide initiative to improve connectivity.
Steel Bridge Construction and inauguration
Another important infrastructure project that would improve year-round connectivity to Silchar from Imphal and reduce traffic congestion is the construction of the Steel Bridge across the Barak River on NH-37, which will cost about Rs 75 crore.
During the occasion, the Prime Minister also inaugurated this Steel Bridge.
The Prime Minister has also dedicated 2,387 mobile towers erected at a cost of over Rs 1100 crores to the people of Manipur.
Inauguration of the Covid Hospital
He also inaugurated the ‘200 Bedded COVID Hospital at Kiyamgei,’ which was built at a cost of over Rs 37 crore in partnership with the Defence Research and Development Organisation to improve COVID-related infrastructure in the state (DRDO).
Imphal Smart City Mission Projects Launching
The Prime Minister launched three Imphal Smart City Mission projects, including the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), ‘Development of Western Riverfront on Imphal River (Phase I),’ and ‘Development of Mall Road at Thangal Bazar (Phase I),’ all of which cost more than Rs 170 crore.
