Humanity still alive: Odisha auto driver return gold necklace worth Rs 1.6 lakh

A 35-year-old autorickshaw driver in Odisha’s Ganjam district has received praise for returning a gold necklace worth approximately Rs 1.6 lakh to a female passenger who had mistakenly left it in his vehicle a few days earlier. Pankaj Behera, the autorickshaw driver, discovered the 30 gm ornament underneath the passenger seat while cleaning his vehicle.

In the presence of law enforcement and members of the local auto drivers’ association, he handed it over to the woman, Narmada Behera, at the New Bus Stand Police Outpost. The 30-year-old woman and her family boarded an autorickshaw from New Bus Stand to Gopalpur. Behera had kept the gold ornament in her purse, but it could have fallen into the vehicle without her knowledge, according to a police officer.

The driver returned the necklace

After she arrived home, she realized the necklace was missing from her purse and immediately called the autorickshaw driver, whom she knew beforehand. He checked the vehicle, but it was not there that day.” I informed the police and the woman’s family after discovering the necklace while cleaning my autorickshaw,” the driver said. The driver’s honesty was appreciated by Narayan Swain, the officer in charge of the police outpost.

The woman was also relieved when she received her ornament back. “I’d had a few sleepless nights in the previous few days.” “I am very happy and grateful to the autorickshaw driver right now,” she said.
