ZBIHAR: HEADMASTERS WILL NOW SHARE MIDDAY MEALS WITH STUDENT

The state education department has instructed the heads of all government and government-aided primary schools to sit with the students and share a midday meal with them in order to ensure that the children receive high-quality meals.

A great initiative

Sanjay Kumar, assistant chief secretary of the state education department, said that since the practice of giving midday meals in schools was reinstated on February 28 following the Covid-19 epidemic, necessary procedures have been taken to ensure continuous monitoring of midday meals supplied to children. He said that the chairman, secretary, and other members of the school education committee, as well as guardians of children in rotation, would sit with the children and have meals with them.

To gain trust in the quality of food served to the children

Whenever district officers or officials authorized by them visit the school to inspect the midday meals, they make it a point to sit with the students and eat with them. This would give children and their guardians more trust in the quality of food given in schools on all working days.

Previously, on April 5, the department directed the headmasters to taste the cooked food at least half an hour before serving it to the children. On March 28, a meeting of the officials involved with the chief secretary emphasized the importance of regular monitoring of midday meals

It should be noted here that hot cooked food is provided to students from Classes 1 to 8 on all working days through the midday meal scheme, which is run with financial assistance from the central government.
