Har Ghar Jal: State to make 100% household tap water connection



Gujarat was declared a ‘Har Ghar Jal’ state, which means that all rural households have access to safe drinking water through taps, ensuring that ‘No One is Left Out.’ 

According to government statistics, all 91,73,378 homes in the state now have water connections.

Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi tweeted that every household in the state now has access to running water.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Sanghavi said, “Yet another achievement on the auspicious occasion of #NewYear Gujarat declared as 100% #HarGharJal state. Under eminent leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi ji, CM Shri @Bhupendrapbjp ji & efforts of Shri @Rushikeshmla ji, Gujarat’s every household is now having “Jal”.

Gujarat rejoices

Water Supply Department, Govt. of Gujarat tweeted, “Today is a marvelous day in the history of Gujarat as it becomes 100% tap water connected. Every rural household is now connected with individual FHTC that provides safe, adequate and regular drinking water.”

Rushikesh Patel, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Water Resource and Water Supply, lauded the achievement and tweeted, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri @NarendraModi Saheb and Chief Minister Shri @Bhupendrapbjp Ji, the government has added another milestone in the development journey of the state in the new year.”

Pradipsinh Vaghela, Gujarat BJP General Secretary, tweeted, “Everyone’s yielded fruitful results!”

Jal Jeevan Mission is a flagship programme of the Government of India that Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced from the ramparts of Red Fort on August 15, 2019. By 2024, the mission aims to provide potable tap water in adequate quantity, of prescribed quality, and on a regular and long-term basis to every rural household in the country.
