The Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar will be bestowed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On April 11, 2022, the late singer’s family stated this that the prize will be given to the Prime Minister for the first time. On the 80th death anniversary of Master Deenanath Mangeshkar, the legend’s father, he will receive the prize at the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Awards ceremony on April 24.
Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Lata Mangeshkar’s younger brother, made the announcement of the new prize. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consented to attend the event and accept the Lata Mangeshkar award personally, according to the music director.
The Lata Mangeshkar Award
The family and Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan charity trust established the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award in remembrance of Legendary Singer Lata Mangeshkar, who died in February at the age of 92 from multiple organ failure. Along with the annual Master Deenanath awards, the award will be presented. Every year, the award is given to one person who has made extraordinary and ground-breaking contributions to the people, society, and country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who regarded Lata Mangeshkar as his elder sister, paid his condolences during the late singer’s Shivaji Park funeral.
• This year, Asha Parekh and Jackie Shroff will get the Master Deenanath Puraskar (special honour) for their “dedicated services in the field of Indian cinema.”
• Rahul Deshpande, an Indian classical vocalist, will receive the Master Deenanath Puraskar for Indian music.
• The Master Deenanath Puraskar for Best Drama will be awarded to Jigisha Ashtvinayak’s Marathi play “Sanjay Chaya.”
• The legendary Mumbai Dabbawalas will be awarded the Master Deenanath Puraskar (Anandmayee Puraskar) for their “dedicated services in the field of social service.”
