Any community’s future can be improved by focusing on children and youth. Today’s healthy and happy children must be raised to be tomorrow’s mature, responsible, and educated citizens capable of contributing to the nation-building process. Keeping this in mind, the seventy-year-old farmer is helping engineering and medicine students from poor backgrounds. This has won him praise from people in Proddatur and nearby villages. Murukuthi Suryanarayana Reddy, a native of Savisettipalli village in Kasinayan mandal, has been doing social service for the last three decades.

Now, Suryanarayana lives in Chinna Guruvaluru village of Chapadu mandal. He has two sons. One of them is a software engineer and the other deals in gold. Taking inspiration from his parents, Suryanarayan started getting involved in social service activities. In 2008, he established Murukuthi Suryanarayana Reddy Seva Trust to do social service.

How Reddy is helping children

He used to donate money generously for the upliftment of poor farmers as part of his service activities. He has donated books to 70 government school students in Mydukur, Porummilla, Kasi Nayana and Giddalur mandals in Cuddapah and Prakasam districts. He also served as the President of Rotary Club of Proddatur in 2008-09.

He is sponsoring the education of five engineering and four medical students in Alladupalli, Seetharamapuram and Sri Ramulupeta villages of Chapadu mandal. A girl who has benefited from his sponsorship is now working in the US and providing financial support to the Suryanarayana Reddy Trust.

He has also been instrumental in conducting veterinary camps in villages, besides helping farmers to properly utilize various welfare schemes for their economic upliftment.

The Asia Vedic Culture Research University has awarded Suryanarayana an honorary doctorate for his social service activities.
