In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s objective to provide a safe and secure nation by strengthening all facets of national security mechanisms, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on August 17 opened a two-day National Security Strategies (NSS) Conference here in the national capital.
The meeting is being attended by Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Deputy NSAs, Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police of all States and Union Territories (UTs), as well as Director Generals of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
600 officers from across the nation are present at the Conference both physically and virtually.
“The NSS Conference brings a unique mix of top leadership addressing national security challenges alongside cutting edge Police officers/Security practitioners and experts from specialized fields,” said a Home Ministry statement.
The Union Home Minister laid a wreath at the Martyrs Column before the Conference officially started as a mark of respect for the martyrs.
Discussions on a variety of national security topics, such as counterterrorism, radicalization, issues with cryptocurrency, rogue drone technology, and difficulties faced by Maoist groups, took place on the first day of the Conference.
In order to combat terrorism, Shah underlined the value of human intelligence, emphasising the critical role played by district level police personnel in spotting new terror hotspots.
Additionally, he launched the National Crime Records Bureau’s (NCRB) National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) (NCRB).
With the aid of a centralised fingerprint database, the technology will aid in the speedy and simple resolution of cases. The Home Minister would be addressing the Conference on a concluding day on Thursday.
