A Campaign launched to Combat Dust Pollution at Construction Sites, also conduct Surprise Checks



A month-long anti-dust campaign to ensure compliance with pollution norms at construction sites was launched in Delhi on October 6, with 586 teams formed to carry it out, according to Environment Minister Gopal Rai.

The minister told a press conference at his residence in Civil Lines that the campaign was launched as part of the national capital’s Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to combat pollution.

“The anti-dust campaign has begun today in Delhi. As many as 586 teams of 12 government departments and agencies have been formed to check dust pollution at construction sites across the city. This campaign will continue for a month till November 6,” Rai said. These teams will conduct surprise inspections at construction sites to check whether they are complying with the pollution norms.

Regulations regarding anti-smog gun

According to the regulations, construction sites larger than 5,000 square metres must have one anti-smog gun, those larger than 10,000 square metres must have two, and sites larger than 15,000 square metres must have three. Similarly, sites larger than 20,000 square metres will be required to use four anti-smog guns to combat dust pollution.
