Why The Time Capsule Kept 2000 ft Under Ram Mandir?

The construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is nearing completion, and devotees are eager to witness this historic moment. Adding to the intrigue is the placement of a time capsule or ‘kaal patra’ 2000 feet beneath the temple grounds.

What is a Time Capsule?

A time capsule serves as a vessel that encapsulates objects and information specific to a particular time, preserving them for future generations. It also helps archaeologists, anthropologists and historians to study about a site. Future generations can also get information about a particular era, society and country.

Generally, time capsules are placed in the foundations of the buildings. The container is made out of a material that can stand for a long period of time.  The safeguarding of blessed relics goes back for centuries, yet the act of preparing and preserving has all the earmarks.

In the context of the Ram Mandir, this time capsule is essentially a carefully sealed container filled with meaningful items that represent the essence of the present moment.

Why is it Placed There?

The decision to place a time capsule beneath the Ram Mandir holds profound significance. It serves as a testament to the cultural and historical importance of the temple’s construction. By burying this capsule beneath the sacred grounds, the intention is to create a tangible link between the present era and the generations yet to come.

Also to avoid any future disputes over the area. In future anyone who wishes to study about the history of the temple, he’ll get the facts related to Ram Janmabhoomi, so that no new controversy can arise. It’s a way of encapsulating the essence of this monumental time, ensuring that it is not lost to the passage of years.

What Does it Contain?

The Ram Mandir time capsule is a repository of cultural and historical artifacts carefully chosen to reflect the spirit of the temple’s construction. Among its contents are ancient coins, symbolic pictures, relevant documents, and a copy of the revered Hindu text, Ramcharitmanas.

These items are not just random selections but deliberate choices aimed at preserving the artistic and cultural achievements associated with the temple’s creation. The inclusion of Ramcharitmanas, the epic recounting the life of Lord Rama, adds a spiritual dimension, emphasizing the sacredness of the endeavor.

Beyond material artifacts, the time capsule also houses records of various aspects of the temple’s construction, such as photographs, interviews, positive stories and a message about Ayodhya, Lord Ram and his place of birth in Sanskrit.

It becomes a time-traveling vessel, carrying the emotions, efforts, and aspirations of those involved in the construction, allowing future generations to connect with the human side of this monumental project.

Making of Time capsule

A time capsule is made from metals such as aluminium, stainless steel, or copper, and the message is written on acid-free paper so that the paper does not rot even after thousands of years. The time capsule container is 3 feet long and is buried deep inside the ground.

Importance of Preserving Heritage

Preserving heritage is crucial for fostering a sense of identity and continuity. The time capsule in the Ram Mandir serves precisely this purpose. It ensures that the artistic, cultural, and historical achievements during the temple’s construction remain intact for the coming generations.
