High cholesterol levels may be indicated by these symptoms

The body requires cholesterol to produce hormones and Vitamin D, which aid in digestion and the formation of cell membranes. Problems arise when there is an excess of cholesterol in the blood, which causes problems such as coronary artery disease.

A smelly pus on the toes and lower limbs is a warning sign of high cholesterol levels in the body.

When the body’s cholesterol level is high, these symptoms begin to manifest. Atherosclerosis develops if the condition of high cholesterol is not treated.

Atherosclerosis is a condition in which arteries narrow and cholesterol plaques form inside the arteries. This increases the likelihood of having a heart attack.

Atherosclerosis causes Peripheral Arterial Disease and can lead to complications such as Critical Limb Ischemia.

Blood flow to the legs became severely restricted in Critical Limb Ischaemia. Critical Limb Ischaemia eventually results in stinky pus on the toes and lower limbs of the body.

In such cases, the skin on the toes or lower limbs becomes cold and numb. Skin colour also shifts from red to black. It eventually swells, produces stinky pus, and causes excruciating pain.

Aside from the smelly pus, there are other warning signs that should be taken seriously.

These are the red flags:

1. Extensive burning pain in the legs and feet. This pain persists even when the person is sleeping.
2. The skin becomes pale, shiny, smooth, and dry.
3. Wounds and ulcers develop on your feet and legs. These wounds are not going to heal.
4. There is also a loss of muscle mass in the legs. The amount of muscle in the body is referred to as muscle mass. Skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscles are among them.
