Three strategically placed solar plants, each with a capacity of 10 kilowatts, now harness the abundant solar energy available in the region.
What’s even more impressive is that any surplus energy generated by these solar plants will be fed back into the grid for future use, all while minimizing the environmental impact.
Enhancing Visitor Experience and Eco-Conscious Tourism
The Green Heritage Project goes beyond sustainable energy solutions. It also focuses on improving the overall visitor experience and reducing the ecological footprint of tourism in the area.
As part of this endeavor, essential facilities operating on renewable energy sources have been introduced.
One such facility is a solar-operated reverse osmosis plant, ensuring a source of clean and safe drinking water for tourists.
This not only promotes health and well-being but also reduces the use of plastic bottles, contributing to a cleaner environment.
Supporting Clean Transportation with EV Charging
In today’s world, electric vehicles (EVs) are gaining momentum as a cleaner mode of transportation. Recognizing this trend, the project has taken steps to support the adoption of clean transportation.
A dedicated parking shed equipped with three EV charging units has been installed, making it convenient for visitors to recharge their electric vehicles while exploring the Shore Temple and its surroundings.
Exploring the Shore Temple and Its Beauty
The Shore Temple derives its name from its breathtaking location overlooking the Bay of Bengal. It’s not just a temple; it’s an architectural masterpiece.
The complex comprises three distinct shrines, showcasing a blend of Dravidian and Pallava architectural styles. The central shrine is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, flanked by two larger shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, each adorned with intricate carvings.
Visitors can explore the Shore Temple complex between 6 am and 6 pm. It’s well-connected to the main city, and you can easily reach Mahabalipuram by bus from Kanchipuram.
