The Government of India has set a target of installing solar panels on the rooftops of one crore houses in the country under the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, up to 300 units of free electricity will be provided per month. Know the complete details related to the scheme
Loan at subsidy and cheap interest rate
Through this scheme, not only cheap electricity will be available, maximum subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 and loan at cheap interest will also be given. Under this scheme, urban local bodies and panchayats will also be encouraged to promote rooftop solar systems in their jurisdiction.
Renewable Energy Sources on the Rise
The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme is expected to generate more cash, less electricity, and new jobs while raising knowledge of renewable energy sources. Additionally, the government will help with rooftop solar panel installation. As part of the beneficiaries’ award, a grant of between Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 60,000 would be paid if the rooftop solar plant has a capacity of between 1 and 2 kW and uses between 0 and 150 units of power.
Similarly, if the capacity of rooftop solar plant is 2 to 3 kilowatts and power consumption is 150 to 300 units, a grant of Rs 60 thousand to Rs 78 thousand will be provided. Whereas, if the capacity of rooftop solar plant is 03 kilowatt and electricity consumption is more than 300 units, a grant of Rs 78 thousand will be provided.

Funds Directly Deposited into Recipients’ Accounts
The award money will be sent straight to the recipients’ bank accounts for this. Concessional bank loans and subsidies will be provided straight to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts by the government. So that the beneficiaries do not face any kind of inconvenience. Beneficiaries can register by downloading the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar App or Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar.gov.in in order to take advantage of the program’s benefits.
