The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has made a significant change in the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 application process. The commission has now provided candidates with the option to edit certain fields in their application form. The deadline for submission has also been extended until February 18, 2025. Here’s everything you need to know about these important changes.
A Significant Shift in the Application Process
UPSC has introduced a key modification in the application process following multiple complaints from candidates regarding technical glitches. Candidates who faced difficulties while filling the form can now make certain corrections to their application. This one-time edit facility is a much-needed change, offering relief to applicants who encountered issues with the online form submission process.
What Can Be Edited in the Application?
The major change is the provision to edit some entries in the online application form. However, candidates should note that the edit option is available only once. The commission has made this adjustment to address the complaints from candidates who faced technical errors during the form-filling process.
However, it’s important to mention that the changes allowed do not include alterations in the One-Time Registration (OTR) profile. Details like name, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name, mobile number, and email address cannot be modified in the OTR profile.
Changing Mobile Number and Email ID
One of the key changes is the ability to modify mobile numbers and email IDs.
For Mobile Number Change: If a candidate cannot access the registered mobile number but still has access to the email ID, they can request a change in the mobile number. The system will send a One-Time Password (OTP) to the email ID, which can then be used to update the mobile number.
For Email ID Change: Similarly, if the candidate cannot access the registered email ID but has access to the mobile number, they can request to change the email ID using a similar OTP-based system.
What If Both Mobile and Email Are Unavailable?
In case a candidate is unable to access both the registered mobile number and email ID, they must send a request to UPSC with the following documents,
- Class 10th certificate
- Aadhaar Card / PAN Card / Passport / Driving License
- Latest passport-size photograph
- These documents should be scanned and sent in the required format to otrupsc@gov.in.
