Stalin Launches TN Skill Development Plan Portal, Students Gain Access to New Technology



The Tamil Nadu government signed Memorandums of Understanding with over 40 firms on August 29 as part of its ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ skill development and employability facilitation scheme, and Chief Minister M K Stalin launched a dedicated upskilling portal. Stalin launched the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme’s website (www.naanmudhalvan.tn.gov.in) and inaugurated an exhibition of firms offering training, skilling, and courses in a variety of fields and subjects.

It includes courses on new technologies such as block chain, IT-skills and programming, banking and financial services, language upgrading, and preparing for competitive exams. The new portal’s features include a psychometric test, free skilling, and low-cost skill upgradation modules on new technologies. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation with 47 firms, with the goal of bringing world-class course content to the state’s students, according to a government release. Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Stalin stated that the new portal allows students to study subjects in emerging fields such as robotics, machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Specific training modules are provided to develop entrepreneurship and personality development skills, he said, adding that agreements have been signed with leading companies such as Microsoft and Infosys for this purpose. Students should develop their individual skills while in college, according to him. Course contents, such as those on IoT, are available for free or at a low cost in the new portal for college students.

‘English communication’ introduced in first semester of arts and science colleges

‘English communication’ would be introduced in the first semester of arts and science colleges under the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ Scheme. He also stated that courses would be offered in German, Japanese, and French. Stalin stated that coaching for competitive examinations would also be a feature of the website. The ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme, which roughly translates as ‘I am the first,’ is a youth empowerment initiative. Stalin launched this scheme for high school, college, and youth students on March 1. It is a broad-based guidance and facilitation scheme that fosters employability in order to help young people find better jobs.

The Mudhalvan scheme encompasses skill development, identifying individual talent and nurturing it. Training sessions on coding and robotics, mentoring, personality development and facilitation to learn foreign languages are among its features. Integrating coaching initiatives for various job opportunities and professional guidance are among the other features.
