Meet Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, the new Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, JNU . She was recently appointed in JNU. It is very inspiring to tell you that she is the university’s first female vice chancellor. She was appointed by India’s President. The prime minister and the education ministry both endorsed her appointment.

All you need to know about Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit

59 year old Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit is a JNU alumna and a political science professor. She has a master’s degree in international relations and a doctorate in international relations. Her contract is for a period of five years. She was a political science professor at Maharashtra’s Savitribai Phule University before becoming the VC of JNU. In 1988, she began her profession as a professor in Goa. In 1993, she transferred to Pune University. She has supervised the completion of 29 doctorates. She has been a member of Indian Council of Social Science Research and University Grants Commission (UGC).
Pandit’s father was an author, while her mother was a Tamil and Telugu professor. She speaks Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Hindi, Sanskrit, and English, and understands Kannada, Malayalam, and Konkani, according to her bio on the Pune university website.

Congratulating JNU’s first VC

Manish Dabhade, an assistant professor at JNU’s School of International Studies, thanked RSS leaders as well as the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Education Minister for “scripting” Dr. Pandit’s appointment in a tweet congratulating her on making history as the first woman VC appointed in JNU’s 50th anniversary year. “With this smart intellect at the helm, JNU is in secure, competent hands,” he concluded.

Why Santishree has been the centre of controversy?

Snatishree, like M Jagadesh Kumar, was an outspoken opponent of the JNU demonstrations. Santishree’s predecessor was Jagadesh Kumar. He was recently named chairman of the UGC (University Grants Commission).
