Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government and private company Lightstorm signed an MoU for the construction of the state’s first submarine cable landing station (CLS) and data centres over the next five years, with an investment of more than Rs 1,000 crore. With this MoU signed under the Gujarat IT Policy, over 2000 job opportunities will be created over the next five years (2022-27).
The secretary of science technology department of the state government Vijay Nehra and Lightstorm CEO Amajit Gupta signed the MoU in the presence of CM Bhupendra Patel.
A submarine cable will be laid to Gujarat directly from Europe, thanks to which the data connectivity with Europe, Middle East, U.S. and Asia will increase and there shall be a boost in setting up the infrastructure such as data centre in the State. This
MoU has opened the gates to position Gujarat as India’s third State to have cable landing.
Under the new IT policy, Gujarat has so far signed 16 MoUs that open the path to generate 28,750 skilled employment in IT sector.
