Teaching Posts Vacant over 12k in Kendriya Vidyalayas, 3K in Navodaya Schools



According to the education ministry, there are over 12,000 open teaching vacancies in Kendriya Vidyalayas across the nation, while over 9,000 teachers have been hired on a contract basis. Madhya Pradesh (1,066), Karantaka (1,006), and Tamil Nadu (1,162) have the most open teaching vacancies.

As of 2021, there are 3,156 open teaching positions in Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs), which are similarly run by the Centre, with the most openings (230) in Jharkhand and 215 in each of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. In response to a question in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi provided the statistics.

“There are 12,044 teaching posts and 1,332 non-teaching posts lying vacant in Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country. The vacancies arise due to transfer, retirement from time to time,” Devi said. “Filling up of vacancies is a continuous process and efforts are made to fill up the vacancies as per the provisions of the relevant recruitment rules,” Devi said.
