PM Modi announces 10 major development projects for Chhattisgarh, boosts tribal area progress



Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 10 development projects in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, with a total cost of ₹75 billion. These projects primarily focus on enhancing road and rail connectivity and developing essential infrastructure. They also include the Raipur-Dhanbad and Raipur-Visakhapatnam Economic Corridors. During the event, the Prime Minister also hoisted a green flag for a new train from Antagadh to Raipur. He emphasized that these projects would kickstart a new journey of facilities and progress in the tribal regions of Chhattisgarh.

Development in Tribal Areas over the Past Nine Years

The Prime Minister highlighted that Chhattisgarh is receiving gifts worth over ₹7,000 crores today, aimed at improving infrastructure, connectivity, and the quality of life for its people. These projects will enhance healthcare services and create numerous employment opportunities. They will also benefit rice farmers, mineral industry entrepreneurs, and tourism. Most importantly, these projects mark the beginning of a new era of convenience and development in tribal areas.

Modern Infrastructure Development in Chhattisgarh

PM Modi stated that wherever infrastructure remained weak in India, development also lagged behind. Hence, the Indian government is now focusing on developing infrastructure in areas that have been left behind in the race for progress. Infrastructure means ease of life for people, ease of doing business, the creation of millions of employment opportunities, and rapid development. The progress in infrastructure development is also evident in Chhattisgarh.

Generating New Employment Opportunities

PM Modi announced that the Indian government has undertaken remarkable work in the last nine years, encompassing all types of connectivity, such as railways, roads, and telecommunications. This not only promotes development but also generates new employment opportunities. He provided information about various central schemes being implemented in the state during a program held at the Science College Ground. He assured the people of Chhattisgarh that the government would continue to assist every individual in the state.

Boosting Chhattisgarh’s Economy

The Prime Minister mentioned that in the current era, modern infrastructure has been constructed in India. The NH project of 3,500 kilometres was initiated in Chhattisgarh. 

The development of the Raipur-Dhanbad and Raipur-Visakhapatnam corridors will create a new chapter of progress in the state. After the amendments to the Mines and Minerals Act, Chhattisgarh received increased revenue. In 2014, the state received ₹13 billion, which has now risen to ₹28 billion as royalty. The increased royalty will further boost district development.

Financial Inclusion and Welfare Schemes

More than 16 million Jan Dhan accounts have been opened in the state, with over ₹60 billion deposited, predominantly by the poor. The government has also provided over ₹400 billion in assistance to support self-employment opportunities for the youth. Additionally, ₹250 billion has been allocated under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. The Ayushman Bharat Yojana is benefiting 7.5 million people in the state. The Ayushman Bharat card provides assistance anywhere in the country, ensuring the welfare of every individual in Chhattisgarh.
